Corvette Sports Car Manufactured
by Chevrolet
The Corvette or commonly called a Vette or Sting Ray was a
sports car manufactured by Chevrolet in the year 1953. Today it’s built by
General Motors at plants in Bowling Green, Kentucky. It’s available in the form
of a 2 door coupe and a 2 door convertible. The platform on which it is built
is FR Y body. This car is available in various generations from C1 TO C4. And
these were from the period of 1953 to 1996. In 1996 Chevrolet released the Grand
Sport version. It was equipped with a LT4 engine which produced 330hp and 340
lb.ft of torque. This model came in Admiral Blue with a center stripe. It had
distinct spoke wheels that were colored black and had two red marks on the hood
that is above the front wheel. It was also manufactured with a Hard Top option.
Present series of this model is the Z06. It
arrived in 2006 and had a 7.0 L engine.
This engine produced an output of 505hp and the speed and performance of
this car were quite impressive when compared to Ford Mustang and Dodge Viper
SRT10. It was able to reach 60mph in just 3.7 seconds. And it can reach quarter
mile time of 11.5 with a top speed of 198mph. It was an official pace car used
for Daytona 500 and Indianapolis 500 race. Latest Edition of this car will be
C7 Corvette that’s planned for introduction in 2010
