was named Lotus Engineering limited by Colin Chapman. He was the CEO of the
company.

famous contribution by this company was it was the first company to enter into
formula one racing. This company also acted as an engineering consultancy. Cars
made by this company are known for their suspensions.
After the
death of the owner the company passed into the hands of General Motors. The
first car introduced by lotus was Lotus Mk1 it was an Austin 7 based car. After
this came the Lotus Mk2. This was a Ford powered car. A Lotus 6 was the first
production racer ever built. The Lotus seven was a classic open sports car, it
was a complete racing machine. Lotus car ranges were from Lotus 1 to Lotus 121.
After this a version called Lotus Carlton was introduced. This was the tuned
version of standard Vauxhall saloon. Latest
models of this company are the Lotus Elise, there are good innovations featured
in this car, such as aluminum framed extrusion and composite body shell. The
Lotus Exige S- car is provided with a super charged engine that provides a
speed of up to 200mph. Lotus recently introduced a bio ethanol car that is free
from pollution. It is called the Lotus
Exige 265E.
